The Nothing is Coming

The Nothing
Oh, G’Mork

“Foolish boy. Don’t you know anything about Fantasia? It’s the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefore, it has no boundaries.”

We started on the Internet a long time ago. Over the years, we have had blogs, websites (what’s the difference?), countless accounts on every possible platform, and spent hours and hours logged into IRCs, AIMs, and ICQs. The goal was always connection, either with friends, family, or strangers, but all human connection. Now, a darkness spreads. The Uncanny Valley spills forth its slop into our connection of tubes, turning the Internet into a wasteland of AI generated soylent green and soulless short form content no longer meant to connect, but to capture.

Here at Novel Ferocity, we shall be different! We shall be plainly, boringly, human. We have a lot of interest, many of which we will speak about at length, but the words will be ours. No LLM will have a say here. Do we think AI is bad? Debatable. Do we think it has its uses? Yes. A LLM helped us set up the current, convoluted state of this blog. How convoluted? Well, a flow chart would look like this: Neovim > Hugo > Github > Solarflare Pages > Your Screen. Did we just decry AI while admitting to using it? Yeah, because we are the author and the architect; AI is our contractor behind the scenes. How we beat The Nothing isn’t by screaming some indecipherable name into The Nothing (It was “MOONCHILD” of all things, by the way), but rather by corralling, harnessing, and exploiting its uses for our own, human endeavors.

So, welcome fellow humans.
